Orange-barred Sulphur
Phoebis philea

Observation date: January 14, 2021
Submitted by: GinaT
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: When I first started seeing cloudless cats on my butterfly cassia it was unusually warm, but the weather the last two weeks have grown very cold. I am seeing the last of the sulphur cats on my big blooming cassias, they are camoflaged into the yellow blossoms. Their chrysalis blends in well with leaves on this Porterweed. Photo before and after it made its chyrsalis. That is cold damage on the Porterweed leaves on today's chrysalis photo.
