Mike verified this on August 3, 2010. He may have obtained the record from Jim F.
I am sorry, but I don't think I was aware of BOMONA during that period (?)
The specimen was nectaring in the large dove field at the Albany Nursery WMA.
The grasses and weeds in the field were from ground level up to waist/chest high at the time.
There are some damp, swampy areas nearby.
This photo was published in American Butterflies, Volume 18: Number 3, Fall 2010, page 45. American Butterflies (ISSN 1087-450X) is published quarterly by the North American Butterfly Association (NABA).
The caption in American Butterflies Magazine read in part:
"Byssus Skippers have a curious distribution, with midwestern and southeastern populations. Most authors have depicted the southeastern range as comprised of two disjunct populations. The find of this species in Dougherty Co., GA, suggests that the range of the southeastern populations is more continuous."
