Observation notes: This butterfly was resting on our back porch post in Olympia, WA. It was there about three hours -- 2 with wings open and 1 with wings closed. Definitely not a butterfly I've seen before. IF it is a Question Mark, it's out of its range. I'm wondering whether this is from one of those butterfly hatching kits?
