Observation notes: I had to be quick to get this picture and I am glad I took it even though I was not as close to it as I wanted to be. (I used the video camera zoom and I cropped the photo.) I knew I had to be fast. It was very flighty. This was the only picture I took, though I tried a few times when it would land on a flower. I could never get closer at a good angle. In this picture it is on a Purple Cone Flower (Echinacea purpurea). It also visited flowers on Milkweed Vine (Cynanchum laeve) and some tall (6 feet) Erigeron plants. Then it left the front yard flying upwards and away. It was sunny and 96 degrees F.
