Observation notes: Courtship. Weather clear, 73 degrees F, E wind 17 mph, Gust 25 mph. I arrived around 9:30 am and saw no butterfly action until 10:00 a.m. Started with just one female fluttering around, when a gust of wind caught her she folded her wings and dropped to the nearest stem and hung on. By 10:13 am there were at least 2 males and 2 other Silvery Blue butterflies fluttering around this patch of lupine. Female landed, but seemed unreceptive to courtship as she curved her abdomen towards the foliage...was not ovipositing.
