Cecropia silkmoth
Hyalophora cecropia

Observation date: March 01, 2020
Date notes: 12-13-2019 I was trimming back a trumpet vine and came across what I originally thought might be a hummingbird nest. Considering it was Dec. I figured it was too late & whatever it was got caught in the changing seasons & had was dead. So I cut the branch loose & brought inside. Today it hatched & out fell, what a google reverse image search called, a "red velvet" moth though -when just googling the name itself I havent found any results. It comes very close too looking like a tulip tree moth, and may be that, but Im just not sure.
