Observation notes: This caterpillar was found on a type of smartweed, bite marks in the leaf near the caterpillar. It as found on the underside of the leaf.

Coordinator notes: I'd originally identified this as M. opercularis but I agree this is actually M. crispata, the Black-waved Flannel Moth. The alternate taxonomy is Lagoa crispata.
