Observation notes: I was standing at kitchen window that looks north out in our front yard, eating a cup of yogurt. Something caught my eye just under the window. There is a small stunned sunflower there and on one of the flowers was long-narrow winged butterfly. It was black with yellow thin stripes. I couldn’t think of its name but knew instantly What it was! I dumbly stared at it as it left the flower and tried to get my wifes attention. Then , as I blurred out “look butterfly “. Finally got my yogurt sat down and grabbed my camera. But I’d lost it. Then I saw it again flying around another patch of sunflowers but not stopping. I failed to get a shot off before it flew towards another patch of flowers behind a oak tree and not stopping as it headed north towards the road and an open pasture. I headed out but was unable to spot it again. Still upset I didn’t get my yogurt set down quicker. Feel terrible I didn’t get documentation photos. I will say in the brief time I observed it, that the colors looked bright and didn’t detect any damage. Beautiful !
Mostly cloudy. 84F 31% with 10~20 from the south. Pretty muggy
