Observation notes: Noticed a female ovipositing on Wild Senna awhile back so started harvesting eggs, then started bringing in the oldest instars and have been releasing them daily. The one in the photo is a fresh release otherwise they are difficult to photograph. Sure have been enjoying them and have quite a few of them around, first time seeing this butterfly here.

Coordinator notes: Hi Charlene....I think this is a phenomenal record....I don't know that any one has documented a host for the Sleepy Orange in Colorado. You say you found eggs and then larvae on "Wild Senna." Is this some you have planted that isn't growing wild around your home? I know it would be possible to summer cultivate various hosts for various butterflies but they don't normally grown here (an observer in Lamar has done this and successfully rears Pipevine Swallowtails and Gulf Fritillaries).
