Silver-spotted Skipper
Epargyreus clarus

Observation date: July 25, 2007
Date notes: Not certain the camera time was correct.
Submitted by: Janeal W. Thompson
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Visiting common zinnia in the backyard garden.
Status: Resident
Verified by: A_baldini
Verified date: March 07, 2019
Coordinator notes: Correct ID of this distinctive skipper. At least from my experience, Silver-spotted Skippers seem to favor bergamot (Monarda fistulosa) flower nectar over almost any other kind. Bergamot is also a favorite of fritillaries (Speyeria sp.) and grass skippers (Hesperiinae).
