Observation notes: at least 3 individuals. hanging out at a house and garden clearing in Redwood/Bishop Pine Forest. garden had lots of ornamental flowering plants. very warm, sunny day. These butterflies stayed low to the ground, landing on the pavement, and the bare dirt and on grasses, ignoring all the flowers. didn't seem to be nectaring or ovipositing. possibly warming up on the pavement and drinking water drops off the grasses?
