Observation notes: Sunny cool morning 68-75 degrees, and we looked up and noticed, over the time of about an hour, hundreds of monarch butterflies flying overhead in a Southwest direction, some lifting out of the tops of our tall trees. A few flew through our yard but the majority were 75-100ft or higher in the air. I have never seen this before here. Hardly any were interested in the flowers, they were all just flying through. By the time of 1:00pm we didn't see many more at all.
