Coordinator notes: I had to look up the name of theTobacco Hornworm on Google Search. It is Manduca sexta, and the adult has two names, Tobacco Hawk Moth and Carolina Sphinx Moth. It appears that BAMONA only gives the second name, Carolina Sphinx, when I enter Manduca sexta. So there was no misidentification, just confusion with common names. Ross Layberry. I just noticed your note that the caterpillars were on Tomato., so I thought that perhaps my ID was wrong after all. But I learned that both the Tobacco Hornworm and the Tomato Hornworm feed on tomatoes, and the Tomato Hornworm has a black horn. So your ID, and mine, were correct after all. Ross Layberry
