Coordinator notes: Based on the evenly-checked fringe and apportionment of the two parts of the distal pale spot on the forewing, this is Samea multiplicalis. Here is a web page that outlines the differences between Samea ecclesialis and multiplicalis. This sighting may be a bit north of the general range along the coast, but there are other records away from coast. SAT
