  Sighting 1112013

Observation date: July 14, 2016
Submitted by: joanne.russo
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: probably same moth found on 7/9, faded and worn, collected, specimen sent to Hugh McGuinness who confirmed ID.
Status: Unknown
Verified by: Tom Clark
Verified date: September 14, 2020
Coordinator notes: Cisthene picta is the most likely species; it is not C. kentuckiensis as it does not have a grey thorax. Of the two Cisthene with an orange thorax, picta and angelus, picta is more likely as it has been reported in Vermont previously. However, the sighting is unusual as Vermont is pretty far from its reported range.
Checklist region(s): United States, Vermont, Windham County
