Observation notes: Found huge swarm of these moths clinging motionless to shaded walls, soffits, and porches of my building when I arrived at 06:45 this morning. They've been there all day. When disturbed (such as by going through an exterior door), a large cloud of them will take flight for a few seconds and then quickly return to roost, although a few will land on you instead. While in flight, they appear totally white from the undersides of their wings. Today is partly cloudy with high humidity and temperatures ranging from the low 70s to low 80s F. EDIT: I just noticed that several are on a window pane so I can see their undersides from inside the building. It turns out the wings are mostly transparent, especially close to the body. The main colors provided by the moth itself are the black and white spots.
