Great Basin Wood-Nymph
Cercyonis sthenele

Observation date: June 23, 2015
Submitted by: Josiah Gilbert
Specimen type: Specimen
Collection location: Josiah Gilbert (personal collection)
Observation notes: Common (12-16), but very locally so, at the summit of the road (elev. about 1500') where it crosses the coastal divide. They were all in a small grassy area (about a quarter of an acre) near the summit, none were seen anywhere else on the road. Sorry about the worn individual, this is the best male specimen!. I'll send you a photograph of the series privately, if that would be helpful to identify the subspecies.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: This one sure doesn't look like behrii does it? It does look more like silvestris. I may refrain from using a subspecies name depending on what the others look like.-Ken Davenport
