Coordinator notes: The submitter is technically correct with his suggested ID, however, this is probably Oeneis calais altacordillera which has been separated from Oeneis chryxus as a sibling species (and yet unaccepted by some lepidopterists). O. calais occurs in odd-number years whereas the Chryxus Arctic occurs only in even-numbered years, save for a rare odd-year occurrence of which, this could be one. You have to have the specimen in order to positively identify which of the two species it is. I would like to have the location where you took this picture, if you can send me that information, please email me at butterfliesofcolorado@hotmail.com Thanks. Mike
