Indra Swallowtail
Papilio indra

Observation date: June 30, 2015
Submitted by: Kristie Nelson
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Euphoric. Landed on damp garden soil and puddled for about 30 mins. Very approachable. I knelt down in front of it for some time, even touched its legs to get it to open its wings for a photo (sounds different from typical encounters with the species). Transient, not near (or just below) any hilltop. Habitat: open moist garden soil, surrounded by acre or 2 of lawn, and Sagebrush at 6800'. Some photo angles showed tail looking relatively short; others longer (as included).

Coordinator notes: Nice photo and record, confirms these get down to near Mono Lake. Wish I had a similar experience-Ken Davenport
