Rounded Metalmark
Calephelis perditalis

Observation date: May 20, 2015
Submitted by: Martin and Sara
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: We are hoping this is a Little Metalmark butterfly. (Sara is leaning toward Rounded, though...) According to our book by Kaufmann, it is out of its normal range but we are used to finding all sorts of critters out of the range of where books say they will be. Guess the times are a-changing in lots of ways! We're fairly serious about our bugging and taking pics of them so hoping to get a confirmation and then submit it formally for others to see. Loving this site... because previously we didn't know how to go about doing that! :O)
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: Based on the metallic postmedian band bulging near the center and what looks like a sparsely checkered fringe (not solid gray), I believe this is a Rounded Metalmark, Calephelis perditalis. SAT
