Observation notes: I was waiting for a bus, a bed of flowering salvias behind me - a striking sphinx moth zipped and started nectaring. I knew I had never seen this species before but all I had was my cell phone for a camera. My photos are not good but Les Ferge, my local expert, agreed with my tentative identification as a titan sphinx moth - lifer for me!
