Life History:
Flight: In the southwest adults fly from May to November, with peaks in June and September
Caterpillar Hosts: Oaks; host in the Huachuca Mountains, Arizona is Quercus oblongifolia.
Adult Food:
Range: Central Oklahoma and central Texas westward to central Utah, and southward through Mexico and beyond.
Management Needs:
Taxonomy Notes: Catocala desdemona Edwards, 1881, formerly treated as a subspecies of 8835 Catocala delilah Strecker, 1874, is returned to full species status and includes as synonyms Catocala ixion Druce, 1890 and Catocala delilah form utahensis Cassino, 1918 in Hawks (2010), ZooKeys, 39: 18.
