Identification: Easily recognized by the hooked forewing and complex pattern of white, reddish brown, and black.
Wing Span: 2.3-3.6 cm.
Life History:
Flight: April-July.
Caterpillar Hosts: Poison sumac.
Adult Food:
Range: Massachusetts to Florida, west to eastern Missouri and Texas.
