Identification: Forewing light to dark brown with black feins and median streak. Pm. line white, wavy, expressed only toward costa and inner margin. Hindwing pale grayish brown.
Wing Span: 1.6-2.4 cm.
Life History:
Flight: May-September.
Caterpillar Hosts: Beeches, birches, chestnut, linden, Prunus species, willows, and other trees and shrubs.
Adult Food:
Habitat:
Range: New Hampshire and Quebec to North Carolina, west to Missouri and Mississippi. Possibly ranges to Florida.
