Observation notes: I found this caterpillar next to the fire ring on our camp site, which is odd because the only vegetation around was rather unhealthy looking red and white oaks and red and silver maple. The caterpillar was active. We took these photos and then placed it in the woods on asclepias syriaca (common milkweed) because at the time I didn't know what type of moth it was and I didn't know a suitable hosts(s) plant. Weather was low to mid 70s and partly cloudy.

Coordinator notes: Very close on ID! The Heterocampa obliqua has a bit more variation and curve to the top line as well as some brown spotting on the sides.
