Observation notes: The moth was very still and allowed me to get close enough to take a macro photo with a point-and-shoot. Though it's hard to tell in the photo, it looked strikingly similar to one of those twitchy, glossy black wasps you see occasionally. It wasn't until I was very close to it that I saw that it was a moth.
