Green Comma
Polygonia faunus

Observation date: June 14, 2014

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I found several of these little guys, they found an all-you-can-eat buffet in the tops of the Artemisia vulgaris ‘Oriental Limelight’ in my gardens. They'd all kind of loosely webbed themselves up in the growing tips of the plants and were feasting away. I cut the tops of the plants they were currently in and brought them in to put in a container and see what they turn into...after an hour or two of trying to identify them, I'm still kind of at a loss. They seem to be very similar to some of the Polygonia caterpillars, and also pretty similar to some of the Speyeria caterpillars, but I can't find anything that fits JUST right.
