Observation notes: nectaring in box canyon very warm dry day clear sky, with gph, skippers , queens, sleepy orange , cloudless sulphur and many more most amazing day, reference Emmel & Emmel Page 45 of butterflies this species or one of the sub species lives near the colorado river. as the crow flies this area is very close to the colorado river.

Coordinator notes: This is a new species for San Diego County and rare anywhere in California. This is also a LATE record for the state. This is subspecies nigrosuffusa and may merit species status itself. Good going Robert!
