Observation notes: Hot summer day, most grasses had seeded out. shrubs were still nice and green lots of blooms, milkweed thistle others. blue skies. this location always has lots of butterflies especially since the woods were burned a few years back. Use to be solid forest with a few meadows. still lot's of cedar, pines oaks ceanothous mustards lots of wild flowers nettles (tall variety) very beautiful diverse area. Most of the trails in california warn of mountain lions. this trail is one that a lady that was birdwatching was killed. don't go alone and carry a large walking stick. for more infomoration on lions in this park read stocked by a mountain lion . Be Vary Aware of your surroundings we see mountain lion deer kills all the time.

Coordinator notes: I have a spot where I find Sonoran Blues along the Kern River where a mountain lion attacked and seriously injured a woman a few years ago.
