Coordinator notes: This id is made primarily by locale, based on comments on the bugguide.net web site. Zale lunata and Z. intenta look very close to one another. Bugguide.net states "Z. intenta applies to the widespread species, whereas true Z. lunifera is the species with a more restricted occurrence east and south of the Appalachians (Schmidt, 2010)." Since this sighting is on the LA-TX border, I believe it is far enough west to be included in the range of Z. intenta. http://bugguide.net/node/view/3123
