Mexican Tiger Moth
Notarctia proxima

Observation date: October 15, 2013
Submitted by: jsampier
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: We found this moth in the sill of a sliding door; lucky for it its colors saved it from being squashed. It was a cool evening and the moth did not protest to being photographed. The following morning it went on its merry way.
Status: Resident

Verified date: October 18, 2013
Coordinator notes: Yes, a tiger moth, but a different species: Notarctia proxima. This is a female so it has red hindwings; a male would have white hindwings.
