Giant Swallowtail
Papilio cresphontes

Observation date: September 11, 2013
Submitted by: kobra
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: HOT day today at 32º in the shade. This female (?) was laying eggs (?) busily on the Burning Bush /Gas plant. If what I found are the butterfly eggs, they are single and tiny, apparently round and a rusty orange. She had an unusually huge wingspan of at least 4 or 5 inches.
