Observation notes: This cocoon is on a willow in my backyard in Albuquerque NM. I first saw it in the beginning of July. It is still there. It moves and eats leaves. I can see the creature on occasion munching leaves by bringing them into its cocoon and reattaching its cocoon to the willow branch. I have video of this if it will help. The creature appears to be black. You can barely see it protruding from the cocoon in the photo I have attached. Thank you
