Abbott's sphinx
Sphecodina abbottii

Observation date: July 20, 2013
Date notes: That weekend, but not sure if that was exact day.
Submitted by: LAnderson
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Seen on my grape vines, when I touched it, it squeaked, and curled up a bit, and quickly turned brownish. Saw it several more times during the weekend.
Status: Resident
Verified by: rosslayberry
Verified date: August 08, 2013
Coordinator notes: I knew that there were two colour forms of this caterpillar, but I did not know it could change from one to the other. I predict it is about to pupate, that is why it changed. Put it in a container containing loose soil or sand, it will bury itself and pupate. Ross Layberry
