Observation notes: A few scattered individuals, mostly patrolling high around oak trees. This was one of the few that was observed feeding. Sunny, clear, 80F.

Coordinator notes: This may represent a transient colony at this botanical garden. The species is not resident in southern California. Nominate philenor from Arizona or Mexico stray into southern California. These philenor may represent introduced subspecies hirsuta using Pipe Vines grown there.
