Observation notes: I don't have any info on possible plants, since I found this caterpillar dead on my front stoop. I am in Cape Coral, Florida, and it has been in the 40's for the past few nights, so I thought that might have contributed to his demise. The only plants nearby are the lawn, which has mostly native grasses, a hibiscus plant, and some sort of succulent. We also have several palm trees. I've tried searching to see if I could identify him, but not had any luck. It's hard to tell from the photo, but he's about 4 inches long. The red smears are likely from him, but I wasn't sure if it was blood or some sort of defensive mechanism. We do have several stray cats in the neighborhood, so it's possible one of them dropped him on the front porch.
