Observation notes: I believe this is a Milbert's Tortoiseshell. The date is July 7,2012 in the afternoon. The weather was sunny and calm, probably about 70 degrees F. The butterfly was actively flying around the dandelions on our lawn and occasionally landing and basking on the deck.
