Gracile Palpita
Palpita atrisquamalis

Observation date: December 03, 2012
Submitted by: TeddyKuma
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I believe this is a Moth but I awoke to find a Agraulis vanillae chrysalis that had been brought inside as a Caterpillar on the 16th of November open and the butterfly gone. Perhaps this is a Butterfly but I found it on the ceiling near the opened chrysalis. But with the doors and windows open whatever was in the chrysalis could have already flown outside. The current temperatures here in Central Texas are around 75F in the afternoon and around 58F at night. We're still waiting for winter. One picture is of the underside of the insect.
