Observation notes: Seen crawling on the bare ground on a sunny but cold day. I was surprised to see such a large caterpillar in October.. nearby plants and trees are all landscaped by the apartment but include pine, cedar, aspen, and oak trees. When brought indoors it began to spin a couple leaves together.
