Observation notes: Caterpillar was found on driveway after American Sycamore tree was cut down. Small head, and bright coloring - almost a Chinese patterned red stripe on the back. Two pronounced anal tentacles; relatively smooth in appearance. Attempted to raise caterpillar; but it used silk, and attached a leaf to the side of the container, creating a small, sheltered dome. The caterpillar appears to still be alive after a week, but does not appear to be morphing. Assuming it may be overwintering, but do not know whether to put the container outside in colder temperatures, or leave inside. Advice on how to continue raising caterpillar would be appreciated.
