Submitted by: pmessing
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This butterfly was one of three very similar looking specimens that were visiting shrubby cinquefoil(Dasiphora fruticosa) in a quaking bog along Lost Lake on the Michigan Nature Association Lost Lake Nature Sanctuary. A thunderstorm was quickly approaching, but rain had not yet fallen.
Status: Resident
Verified by: Ranger Steve Mueller
Verified date: October 01, 2013
Coordinator notes: Not enough detail in the photograph to determine which species of copper butterfly this is. Additional from SJMueller: I think it is most likely a Dorcas Copper and I would call that but a collected specimen is important for complete review.
