Rusty Tussock Moth
Orgyia antiqua

Observation date: July 06, 2012
Submitted by: Rider Girl
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I seen this little guy crawling on our patio table (he was not on any plant and seemed kind of lost). There is some Lilac bushes and a Mountain Ash tree nearby. It was a fairly warm day (28 degrees Celsius) It is about an inch long and has 4 white tufts on it's back. It seemed to have 2 bluish coloured "horns" in the front and a similar looking tail. The "horns" were also fuzzy looking. It also was surrounded by what looked like lashes and was mostly a creamy white colour.
