Observation notes: Physical Location of Siting: The house is located in an area generally referred to as Glasgow, in New Castle County, Delaware (although the mailing address is actually Bear, Delaware) in a development known as Rose Hill at Lexington Farms. The house is a few miles from the Maryland state border at Elkton, MD. Observations: The moth landed quietly and without fanfare on a cedar, between two spiders, spinning webs at the same time. I was watering plants at the time. The cedar is located in the front yard. The moth landed on the shaded, north side of the cedar. The time was 19:55 hours (7:55 p.m.) with considerable daylight remaining in the sky. The temperature was in the upper 80s and very humid at the time. The moth was very cooperative with my picture-taking. The moth was still there until at least 21:33 hours (9:33 p.m.), in the dark, when I attempted to take additional photos of its body (whitish colored body - photo turned out to be too blurry to submit). The moth seemed unphased by my presence or the nearness and flash of the camera. Other plants in the vicinity include a Pink Madevilla, Red Carpet Barberry, Wintergreen Boxwood, Juniper, Veronica, Begonias, Liriope, Gerbera Daisy, Lillies, Petunias, other juniper-types plants, Alberta Spruce, and several other green plants. There is a Redbud Tree about 50 feet from the Cedar in the front yard. About 200 feet from the Cedar, in the side yard, there is Red Maple Tree, River Birch Tree, hollies, and a mix of other plants and flowers. About 500 feet from the Cedar, in the back yard, there are two ornamental Plum Trees, another cedar, an ornamental Pear, and a Crabapple Tree. There are many forested areas in an around this development. There are lakes, ponds, and water bodies within a few miles of the house.
