Our summer fundraiser has arrived, and we need your help!
We depend on donations to keep Butterflies and Moths of North America online and free. If everyone who uses this resource makes a donation, we could cover our ongoing costs, develop new features, upgrade the system, and maybe even remove those pesky ads. Please make a one-time or recurring donation to show your support for this valuable source of information. Thank you!
Coordinator notes: This was a bit hard to verify because of inconsistent caterpillar photos of this species on vaious web sites, also an apparent genus name change (genus used to be Lepipolys). I believe the submittal photo is of a later instar larva, while some (on the Moth Photography Group's web site, for ex.) show an earlier instar larva which looks quite different. In the end, I found enough photos that match the subject photo as the suggested id, Sympistis perscripta, including another one on Snapdragon vine, Maurandella antirrhiniflora.
