Edwards' Glassywing
Hemihyalea edwardsii

Observation date: October 13, 2011
Submitted by: cabngirl
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: (Note: I have another good full backside photo as well). This moth was on our back screen door. Weather was moderate autumn weather, probably lows in the 60s/high 50s, day temps were probably high 70s, low 80s. There had been an early fall rain previously but there was no precipitation at this time. Moth was quiescent and allowed me to pick it up and move it. We have a large oak and a younger oak on and adjacent to, respectively, our property (both Valley Oaks/quercus lobata, probably, imo, somewhat hybridized or a subspecies, the larger bears some similarities to black oak/Kelloggii in the leaf).
