Observation notes: The caterpiller was in the shade on a the stem of a small purple daisy type flower. It was a nice morning, sunny appx 75 degrees. Dropped off the stem immediately

Coordinator notes: Looks like the picture in the Powell-Opler book "Moths of Western North America" plate 62, fig. 34. I just looked at that picture and it does not look anything like the submitted photo. I am unsure that I made this original ID as Malcosoma constrictus (or californica?). At that time, other persons were doing moth adults and larva ID's. Not being an expert on moth adults, or larvae, and not long after I started verifications for Cololrado, I was supposed to only be assigned diurnal butterfly species, not moths. Whatever, the correct ID on this one is here corrected on 1/08/2022, a larva with which I am well familiar. Mike
