Observation notes: It was late afternoon when I went out on my small front porch and this large thing came swooping down. At first I thought it was a bat and then realized it wasn't. It landed on the guttering downspout. I carefully eased over to make a picture. The wing span was a bit over six inches. When I went back later and photographed using a flash, the colors were lighter. The weather was sort of cloudy and cool.
