Pandora pinemoth
Coloradia pandora

Observation date: August 27, 2011
Submitted by: Matt ODonnell
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: There were several dozen of these moths around the Tijeras ranger station. Many seemed to be dying and I saw one being dragged by an ant. 10 light green eggs were on the concrete next to one of the moths.
Status: Resident

Verified date: May 31, 2012
Coordinator notes: This is a Pandora moth, almost certainly, and the only one around your area is the species as identified above. They come out in quantity, which would explain you sighting more than one. Kelly
