Observation notes: The cocoon was formed on the branch of host plant - Silver Mound. I collected the larva and placed in container, the cocoon was one of many Painted Lady Butterflies that I raised. I have several photographs and I am disappointed this was not excepted. I have uploaded a photograph of the stages of this butterfly.

Coordinator notes: This sighting of about May 23 shows an adult as well as the chrysalis and the larva of Vanessa cardui. This submission along with sightings 908564 (chrysalis) and 908566 (larva) both with a date of May 8 are, I believe, the submitters documentation of raising this species from larva to adult from May 8 to about May 23.
