Observation notes: Discovered at Marsh-Billings-
Rockefeller NHP in Woodstock, VT on top of fairly deep snow beside a heavily wooded carriage trail. Woods were primarily hardwood (beech and sugar maple predominant) with some hemlock and stands of pine (spp?) nearby. This seemed to be an extremely early emergence as temps have been low and snow recent - assume this is a species which overwinters in larval phase. Very torpid, as expected at 30 degree temp and light snow!
